Wyoming County Courthouse

WYOMING COUNTY COURTHOUSE

Built in 1916, after repeated attempts to move the county seat elsewhere, the Wyoming County Courthouse stands as a symbol of both Pineville’s success and Wyoming County ’s early 20th century coal boom expansion. The courthouse was built from locally quarried stone and designed in a heavy, Neoclassical Revival style by Charleston architect, A. F. Wyson. Three wide, grassy terraces raise the courthouse a respectful distance above the town.

An annex to the courthouse was constructed in 1958. The courthouse is on the National Historic Register.
