Tucker County Courthouse

TUCKER COUNTY COURTHOUSE

This courthouse is a massive red brick structure with Romanesque Revival details. Flanking the massive entrance portal of rock-faced stone are two towers. The courthouse was designed by West Virginia Architect, Frank Milburn, in 1898.

The county seat was originally in St. George, but the county records were “seized” in the middle of the night and removed to Parsons on August 1, 1893 , during what has been referred to as the “County Seat War.”

The courthouse is on the National Historic Register.
