Pocahontas County Courthouse

POCAHONTAS COUNTY COURTHOUSE

The first permanent courthouse (in Huntersville which was the county seat from 1821 until 1891), was completed in 1824.

A temporary building was used from 1893 until the completion of the permanent structure in 1895.

Marlinton’s current red brick building contains a bell tower. In 1972, it was remodeled and renovated with revenue sharing money. The original brick was sandblasted and the mortar repointed. A new additional was also added in the back for office space.
