LOGAN COUNTY COURTHOUSE

A private home served as an early meeting place for holding courts. A log building was constructed for a courthouse prior to the Civil War. It was occupied by Union troops as a barracks during the war. When the troops pulled out, they set it on fire destroying both the courthouse and all records.

About five years later, a brick courthouse was built and was used until 1904. Then, a stone building was constructed for the county, only to be burned in 1911.

In 1964, the third courthouse was torn down and the present one erected a year later.
