LINCOLN COUNTY COURTHOUSE

White Hall, a Southern Methodist Church was chosen to hold the first sessions of court in the county. White Hall was occupied by soldiers during the Civil War and at the end of the fighting it was heavily damaged. Authorities took possession of it at that time and it was used as a courthouse from 1867 until 1875. The trustees of the church repurchased the building in 1875.
There is no recorded information regarding courthouses until 1909. The courthouse which existed at that time was burned and all the land books prior to that time are gone. A second courthouse was erected in 1911. The present courthouse, which is modern in design, was completed in 1964.
