Greenbrier County Courthouse

GREEN BRIER COUNTY COURTHOUSE

The present courthouse was constructed in 1827 by John W. Dunn, a well-known brick mason. It is colonial in design and Mr. Dunn used locally fired brick in this work. This building has been in constant use since its completion and is the oldest functioning courthouse in West Virginia . The building hosted the Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals until 1864.

Although the inside of the courthouse has been altered, the massive exterior retains its 1837 appearance.
