Wood County Judicial Annex was constructed in 1982. The building is four stories
plus a basement and is approximately 40, 000 square feet. The
general exterior of the building is in good condition. |

Walls |
The exterior walls are pre-cast concrete. There
were no cracks discovered and the exterior walls appear to be in good
condition. |

Roof |
The
roof is a rubber membrane flat roof that is original to the building’s
construction. The roof appears to be in good condition. |

Windows
and Doors |
The windows are aluminum framed, double–paned and
are original to the building. The windows and the caulking around the windows
are in good condition. The doors are aluminum with glass and they operate
properly and are in good condition. |

Fire
Safety |
The
building has a fire alarm system and a sprinkler system. It is equipped with illuminated exit signs
and emergency lights with power back up. There are two ways out of the
building on every floor. The stairwell is enclosed by fire rated doors and
walls. The stairs are not blocked. There is no storage under the stairs. The
exits swing in the direction of the exit but are not equipped with panic
hardware. |

system in the building. The judge’s bench is protected with ballistic

Electrical |
The
communications panel in the building is a Lucent Technologies in excellent
condition. It feeds the Main
courthouse, Judicial Annex, the Holding Facility and the Law Enforcement
building. The main distribution panel is a 1600 amp square D. There are several other breaker panels in
the building, all of which are in excellent condition. The electric is backed up by a Kohler
generator in excellent condition. The
lighting in the building is fluorescent and is in excellent condition. |

Mechanical |
This
building is nicely equipped. There are two A.O. Smith water heaters. One is a 40-gallon and the other is
50-gallon. Both are in excellent
condition. The HVAC system is a gas fired Carrier furnace and air
conditioning combination with outside condensing units on the roof. They appear to be in good condition as
well. |

Safety |
No
work safety issues were noted during the inspection. |
|
|
|
Space
requirements |
Space
is limited for storage in the courthouse complex. Documents are being stored
off site and that storage is full. Judges need more filing space. More room
is needed for the handling of ballots for elections. |
A
30,000 square foot annex is proposed in the main courthouse report to
accommodate the growing complex. |
