General Exterior

The building was completed in 1925.  It is 3 stories with a basement, (P1, P2, P3, P4).  It is approximately 7200 square feet.  It has a concrete foundation with major water problem in basement, (P5)

The brick walls are in poor condition.

The windows are in fair condition.  They are double glazed aluminum windows.  The wooden doors are rotted.  The aluminum and glass door is in good condition.

Fire Safety

There are no fire alarms, strobes, exit lights, sprinklers, or emergency lights in the building.  The stairs are not enclosed.  The exit doors swing outward and have panic hardware.  There are two means of egress from each floor.

There were no work safety issues identified.

 

 

Space requirements

This building is not adequate for the needs and should be abandoned.  The prosecuting attorney and magistrate should be moved to facilities on the courthouse property.

The total cost for renovations is nearly $400,000.  This building is not worth this much.  The county should abandon this building and build a new annex to house the magistrate and prosecuting attorney on the courthouse complex.
