General Exterior

The building has 5 floors plus a basement and an attic, which houses some mechanical equipment, (P1, P2, P3).  It is in fair to good condition.  It has a red brick masonry exterior with stone accents. 

 

 

 

Exterior Walls

The stone on the exterior seems to be discolored.  There are some damaged bricks in some areas of building, (P4).  There is some missing mortar, (P5).

 

Clean the brick and stone, re-point the brick, and seal.

Roof

The building has a flat rubber membrane roof.  It is  relatively new and in good condition, (P6).

 

 

 

Windows and Doors

The windows are metal frames in good condition, (P1).  The doors are glass and aluminum.  They also are in good condition, (P7).

 

 

Fire Safety

The fire safety systems in the building appear to be under renovation.  There are fire alarms with strobes on some floor, (P11, P12). 

 

 

 

ADA Compliance

The building is currently under renovation.  Where the renovation has been done the ADA compliance is very good.  The bathrooms are in good condition, (P8, P9).  There is an elevator.

 

 

 

Structure

 

There were no structural problems noted.

 

 

Security

The security at the main entrance consists of a deputy and a metal detector.  The building houses the family court system and therefore requires more security.

 

Provide limited access control for the building with the following:

     X-ray machine

     Card access for employee entrances

     Closed circuit TV Cameras

     Ballistic material for bench

     Duress buttons

     Alarmed exit doors

     Security Console

Electrical

The electrical is a mix, some modern breaker boxes, some older breaker boxes\electrical panels.  There is remodeling going on throughout the building in various phases (seems to be a floor at a time).

 

The electrical renovations should continue to bring the building up to code.

 

 

Mechanical

The mechanical systems all appear to be under renovation.  There is a mix of new and old equipment.

 

 

 

Work Safety

There was some exposed wiring which could be a hazard dependent upon if the floor was occupied or not, (P10).

 

The electrical renovations should continue to bring the building up to code.

 

 

Space requirements

Completion of the remodeling to the rest of the floors should provide the county with the storage and office space needed.
