General Exterior

The McClung Annex is located, across the street from the Main Courthouse, on Church Street.  It is a three-story brick building with a basement.  The annex, constructed in 1979, is a 16,000 square feet facility, (P36).

 

 

 

Exterior Walls

The brick exterior walls appear to be in relatively good condition.

 

 

 

Roof

The roof was replaced in 1998 and appears to be in good condition.

 

 

 

Windows and Doors

The doors and windows are vinyl-clad aluminum and are in good condition. 

 

 

 

ADA Compliance

The restrooms meet very few of the ADA compliance requirements.  No strobe lights are present, and no bar has been installed behind the toilet.  The stall is not the require 5’X5’ size, (P3, P33).  The sinks are not compliant.

 

Upgrade the restrooms to meet ADA requirements.

Fire Safety

Emergency lights and fire alarms are present.  Four fire extinguishers are located in the facility.  The stairs are enclosed by fire-rated walls and doors. But there is too much space between the rails.

Install pickets at 4” on center so that small children will not fall through the stairs.

Water leaks are present in the basement ceiling, (P20), and cracks are apparent in the stairwell wall, (P19).  Water damage is visible on the restroom ceiling, (P6), and mechanical room ceiling (P10).

There is no security camera or metal detectors present in the building, and no security guards are posted.

 

There is a security alarm system (P28) installed in the stair well which violates the fire code.

Install a CCTV system.

 

Install an X-ray machine and metal detector at a limited access control door. 

 

Limit the access into the building from the other doors by a card reader.

Electrical

The electrical service appears to be adequate.

 

 

 

Mechanical

The mechanical systems appear to be adequate.  There are several Carrier Air Handlers, (P5, P8, P15, P17) and a Kohler backup generator.
