General Exterior |
The original date for the
Marion County Jail construction was 1910.
The Jail’s approximate size is 16,560 with three stories plus a basement,
(P1, P2). The general exterior and stone foundation
are in good condition. |

Exterior Walls |
The exterior walls are stone and brick. The walls are in good condition with some
minor cracks, (P3). There is mold/moss and stains on the
building, (P5). |
Clean the stone to remove
the stains and mold/moss and patch cracks. |

Roof |
The roof is a pitched clay
tile roof in good condition, (P8). There is also a flat rubber membrane area
around the perimeter which appears to be leaking, (P9) |

Windows and Doors |
The windows are a combination of original
single pane wood frame and double pane aluminum windows, (P10, P11). Some of the wood windows are rotted and
have peeling paint as well as painted over glass. The doors are
aluminum/glass. They are in good
condition. The front door is the only
public access to the building, (P12). There is no panic hardware on the door. |
Repair rotted areas of
windows, scrape and paint; remove grills and bars for renovation. Install panic hardware on
the exit doors. |
