General Exterior

The Mason Building hoses the parks department, the probation department and the sheriff’s office.  The building is two stories plus a basement, (P1)

 

 

 

Exterior Walls

The building has tan brick masonry that is in excellent condition.

 

 

 

Roof

The pitched asphalt shingle roof is in good condition.

 

 

 

Windows and Doors

The doors and window are all wood.  Some of them have been replaced with historically correct reproductions.  They are all in good condition.

 

 

 

Fire Safety

The fire systems are in good condition.  There is an alarm system.  There are exit lights and emergency lighting.

 

 

 

ADA Compliance

The building has an entrance ramp that does not have an inside rail.  The bathrooms are not compliant.

 

Install an inside rail on the ramp.

 

Upgrade the bathroom.

Structure

 

The building structure appears to be in good condition, (P2)

 

 

 

Security

There are no security systems in place.  The sheriff mentioned a problem with people visiting the probation officers wandering through the building.

 

Install a security system.

 

Provide a way to limit access through the building.

Electrical

The electrical system appears to be in good condition.  However, there are some exposed wires which should be enclosed in junction boxes, (P3, P4).

 

 

 

Mechanical

The mechanical systems are in good condition and adequate for the service.

The only work safety issues noted were the exposed electrical wires.

 

 

 

Space requirements

The space appears to be adequate at this time.
