General Exterior

The building that houses the Prosecuting Attorney office was built in 1910.  It is approximately 3,800 square feet.  The building sits across Maple Street from the main courthouse and annex.  The original building is two stories with an unused attic.  There is a one-story, two-room addition that was added to the back of the original building that has a basement, (P40).  This addition has been there since the Prosecuting Attorney has used the building.  The foundation for the original building is stone and is in excellent condition, (P45).  Few cracks were found, and no other visual evidence observed, indicated problems in the foundation.

Exterior Walls

The front and left side of the building exterior walls are brick, (P41), and the other side is stucco, (P30, P31).  The addition is all made from block.  There is one major crack in the basement/foundation of the addition, shown both in interior (P24) and exterior (P38, P39).  There is some evidence of mold and water stains on the exterior walls (P32, P42).

Clean the exterior of the building, repaint the stucco, and paint the block.

Seal the crack in the block.

Roof

The roof was replaced over the entire building approximately ten years ago.  The roof was also altered to add some slope, (P41), to help with drainage problems.  There was no roof access.  Due to the water damage in the building it is evident that the roof is leaking, (P2, P3).

Repair the roof and flashing to eliminate leaks.

Windows and Doors

The windows in the original and addition are original, and none have been replaced to date.  The windows are metal with single paned glass, and the caulking is old and broken.

There is only one entrance/exit for the entire building.  The entrance is a glass door in the front of the building.  The door is in good condition.

Replace the windows.
