The courthouse was constructed in 1939 and is approximately 20,500 square feet, (P1). The building is three stories plus a basement. There is a detached jail on the site that is not in use today. The foundation is constructed from stone.

The exterior walls are made of stone. There is no evidence of water damage, but there is mold, especially around the top of the building, (P2). |

Windows and Doors |
The windows are single pane metal windows that are original to the construction. They are in poor condition, (P7, P8). The doors are wood. They are heavy, but swing freely. They have no threshold or weather stripping. There are also no locks or dead bolts, (P9, P10). They do have panic hardware. |
The windows throughout the building should be replaced with period appropriate windows. The doors should have proper locking hardware installed. |

Fire Safety |
There are no fire alarms, sprinklers, exit lights, or battery operated emergency lights. There are not two means of egress from each floor. The stairs are not enclosed by fire rated walls and doors. The exit doors swing freely in the direction of the exit. |
Install a fire alarm system in the building with strobe lights. Install a sprinkler system. Install exit and battery back up lights. Install a second staircase that is enclosed with fire-rated walls and doors. Enclose the stairwell. |

Structure
